One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
\nThey spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.<\/p>\n
\nOn their return from their trip, the father asked his son, \u201cHow was the trip?\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt was great, Dad.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\u201cDid you see how poor people live?\u201d the father asked.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOh yeah,\u201d said the son.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cSo, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?\u201d asked the father.<\/p>\n
\nThe son answered: \u201cI saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe boy\u2019s father was speechless.<\/p>\n
\nThen his son added, \u201cThanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.\u201d <\/p>\n
