\nAs I was walking down life’s highway
\n
\nmany years ago
\n
\nI came upon a sign that read
\n
\nHeavens Grocery Store.<\/p>\n
\nWhen I got a little closer
\n
\nthe doors swung open wide
\n
\nAnd when I came to myself
\n
\nI was standing inside.<\/p>\n
\nI saw a host of angels.
\n
\nThey were standing everywhere
\n
\nOne handed me a basket
\n
\nand said; “My child shop with care.”<\/p>\n
\nEverything a human needed
\n
\nwas in that grocery store
\n
\nAnd what you could not carry
\n
\nyou could come back for more.<\/p>\n
\nFirst I got some Patience.
\n
\nLove was in that same row.
\n
\nFurther down was Understanding,
\n
\nyou need that everywhere you go.<\/p>\n
\nI got a box or two of Wisdom
\n
\nand Faith a bag or two.
\n
\nAnd Charity of course
\n
\nI would need some of that too.<\/p>\n
\nI couldn’t miss the hope
\n
\nIt was all over the place.
\n
\nAnd then some Strength
\n
\nand Courage to help me run this race.<\/p>\n
\nMy basket was getting full
\n
\nbut I remembered I needed Grace,
\n
\nAnd then I chose Friendship for
\n
\nFriendship was for free<\/p>\n
\nI tried to get enough of that to do
\n
\nfor you and me.
\n
\nThen I started to the counter
\n
\nto pay my grocery bill,<\/p>\n
\nFor I thought I had everything
\n
\nto do the Masters will.
\n
\nAs I went up the aisle
\n
\nI saw Prayer and put that in,<\/p>\n
\nFor I knew when I stepped outside
\n
\nI would run into sin.
\n
\nPeace and Joy were plentiful,
\n
\nthe last things on the shelf.<\/p>\n
\nSong and Praise were hanging near
\n
\nso I just helped myself.
\n
\nThen I said to the angel
\n
\n“Now how much do I owe?”<\/p>\n
\nHe smiled and said;
\n
\n“Just take them everywhere you go.”
\n
\nAgain I asked; “Really now,
\n
\nHow much do I owe?”<\/p>\n
\n“My child;” he said, <\/span><\/p>\n \n
\n
\n“God paid your bill
\n
\na long long time ago.”
\n
